The Astor is a special edition shaving brush that evokes memories of yesteryear. One of the original Alexander Simpson brush designs, the handle disappeared from production for many decades before it was resurrected to celebrate the 90 year anniversary of the company in 2009.
Here it returns to celebrate our centenary & we cannot underestimate the virtues & charms of the flawless handle curves and of course, that magnificent Simpson hand-tied Best Badger knot.
The Astor is a brush that certainly carries the wow factor but still retains its primary duty as a wonderful lathering tool.

Simpsons Astor A1 is an incredible brush. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect since this is my first Simpsons, but it has completely exceeded my expectations.
The handle is beautifully shaped, long enough for bowl lathering, perfectly balanced, and has a satisfying weight. The knot is excellent—just the right backbone, soft tips, holds a lot of water, and produces a huge amount of lather. It really is a lather machine.
